Architect Labs

We build custom silicon end-to-end using AI.

Blue chip floorplan illustration

Architect Labs is an AI research lab for custom silicon. We are changing how the world goes from software to silicon in a fraction of today's timelines. We partner with semiconductor and workload companies, AI labs, and nations to accelerate their ASIC programs or build one entirely from scratch.

AI adoption in silicon is rising. Program results are not.

The semiconductor industry points to task-level wins, a “3x” speedup in design space exploration, a “10x” there on verification, a “400x” on UVM environment generation. But program-level outcomes tell the real story. First-silicon success has fallen from roughly 30% in 2020 to 14% in 2024, a 20-year low as chip programs contend with escalating design complexity, driven by heterogeneous integration, advanced-node physical effects, and increasingly stringent power, performance, and area (PPA) constraints. 75% of programs now run behind schedule, up from a historical two out of three.

01

Time

Concept to silicon routinely runs 2–5 years.

02

Cost

Tens to hundreds of millions before a single working chip exists.

03

Talent

A tiny pool of experts concentrated in a handful of companies.

04

Tooling

A 40-year-old design flow built for human pace, not the AI era.

Speedups on individual steps have not moved the numbers that matter: spec-to-silicon time and first-tapeout success. Concept to silicon still takes 2 to 5 years, still costs tens to hundreds of millions of dollars before a working chip exists, and still depends on a small pool of experts running a 40-year-old flow built for human pace.

Architect Labs: Concept to Tape-out ready Silicon

Architect Labs exists to change the development timelines, economics, and the computing paradigm for modern silicon. We have built an end-to-end AI system that co-designs, optimizes, and provably verifies chips end-to-end, for your specification or target workload.

With our technology, we:

  1. work with chip companies of any kind and enable them to deliver their most ambitious projects to date.
  2. co-design custom silicon together with software companies, AI labs, neoclouds, physical AI pioneers, and anybody building next-generation workloads.

Three decades ago, foundries like TSMC made world-class manufacturing available to anyone with a design, and the fabless industry with companies like NVIDIA, Broadcom, and Apple was born.

Architect Labs aims to do the same for design itself: make world-class chip design available to anyone with a workload. We call this the designless semiconductor industry, a world where organizations no longer have to become chip companies, make decade-long bets on an architecture, or carry the risk of a failed tape-out, just to get the silicon their work demands.

Chip design will be a bottleneck to AI progress.

The age of AI demands more chip designs than the world can produce today. Data center compute is fragmenting into workload-specific silicon. Edge devices, personal AI devices, drones, autonomous systems, robotics, every one of these domains needs its own specialized architectures, and each is multiplying into families of designs, not single chips. The demand curve for custom ASICs has left the industry's design capacity far behind, and the gap widens every year.

For specialized ASICs to be feasible across all of these workloads, incremental gains will not be enough. Our technology drives a step-function in improvement of how chips are designed, how teams are structured in an AI-first world, and how we think about the co-design of computing systems altogether.

The Founding Team

Our founding team has collectively taped out 80+ production chips, led $10B data center product lines, been core contributors to Meta’s AI silicon, architected and designed one of the first neuromorphic chips out of Intel, led research teams at Anthropic, xAI, and Google DeepMind, and contributed to fundamental AI work across nearly every frontier lab.
